Creators and makers are really just people that like to plan ideas. Matt has been a creator his entire life. It started covered in sawdust in the basement woodshop with his father and grew into so much more. In the many years Matt has been with Wilkus Architects, he has successfully created numerous projects across various project typologies and scales, including commercial, hospitality, and retail. What he learned in the wood shop directly translates to how he approaches design. Woodworking requires thoughtful research and planning for each material you pick and cut you make. Architecture requires the same thoughtfulness and diligence to arrive at elegant, effcient, and exciting results. In woodworking, they say “measure twice, cut once”; as an architect, he believes “iterate with the pen, not the saw”.
Matt enjoys spending his free time as an amateur photographer or outdoors camping, hiking, canoeing, biking, and skiing
